The 2010 Clinger Farm Harvest Festival For food, frolics, animals, activities, music and much more, count on the Clinger Farm 2010 Harvest Festival (Saturday September 4th 2010) to provide a family farm festival like no other. The inaugural event is held at the glorious grounds of Clinger Farm, near Wincanton, Somerset with tickets from £20 for adults, £5 for under 16s and under 5s – FREE!
Between 2pm and midnight, with overnight camping available at £10 a pitch, the extraordinary Clinger Farm pays homage to Harvest and lays on a banquet of fabulous farm-style grub including a traditional hog roast and a chargrilled range of delectable bbq cuisine, prepared by The Old Inn’s head chef, Ben Abercrombie.
For those with a taste for a tipple, specialist tea company Lahloo will recreate a tea garden with a variety of fair trade and organic teas sourced from specialist regions around the world. Alongside a fully stocked bar that’ll include wines and ciders, will be the ‘simply gorgeous’ Cheddar Ales, a microbrewery hailing from the Mendip Hills using the finest ingredients and Somerset sounded methods to produce both traditional and contemporary ales that are sure to flourish in the harvest harmonies of the festival.
All day, amongst the bucolic farmland, sublime sounds will ring out, provided by eight bands that’ll include drumming sensation Bob Knight and his group of musicians, who played at the Glastonbury Festival, with Bob having also recently drummed for a certain Michael Buble on his recent European Tour. Also bringing summer sounds to the festival’s sights, will be Anderson, singer songwriter Jason Rowe, Flash Echo Fire and Nick Parker.
Alongside the music and mouth watering food and drinks, will be a host of traditional festival fayre, such as - a bouncy castle, a coconut shy, skittles, a climbing wall, trampolining, face painting, apple bobbing and, bringing a touch of American Midwest to the South West, a rodeo bull!
The 2010 Clinger Farm Harvest Festival is supporting a very worthwhile charity in ‘Julia’s House’, a Dorset based hospice dedicated to children with life limiting conditions. An auction with fantastic prizes including helicopter rides, bulging hampers and gourmet meals will be held to raise funds for this extremely worthwhile cause.
Festival organiser and Clinger Farm spokesperson, Ed Ovenden, says, “We’ve looked to bring all the elements that make for a great family day out, into one picturesque setting. By utilising the harvest theme, we can bring the very best of the West Country into an exciting festival that can be enjoyed from those knee high to the grasshoppers, to the agricultural loving adult in all of us. We’ve managed to secure an eclectic range of in-demand musicians as well as famous names from the world of food and drink, and together with the exciting range of children’s activities, have, what we believe to be, the perfect Harvest Festival”.
